Hardware Lifecycle Services

What Is It?

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) manages its hardware lifecycle through a structured process that emphasizes strategic purchasing, efficient deployment, and responsible retirement. Devices are deployed by SLCC’s IT support and Facilities teams, who configure and distribute equipment to classrooms, labs, and administrative offices, maintaining detailed asset records for tracking and accountability. As hardware reaches the end of its useful life, SLCC follows secure retirement protocols to protect data.

Who or What is Eligible?

Members of staff and faculty need to work with their managers when there is a need to purchase or retire.

To support SLCC’s growing technology needs, the Office of Information Technology has standardized the ordering of computers, printers, and software, selecting specific Dell computers and Dell or HP printers. Only HP and Dell LaserJet printers fall under the college’s maintenance contract, with HP recommended for Banner-related printing. For assistance or special ordering requests, faculty and staff are encouraged to contact the Help Desk.
