SLCC Password Complexity Requirements and Troubleshooting

Description


SLCC requires the following when creating your new password:

  • Be at least 15 characters long.
  • Meet at least three (3) of the following requirements:
    • Include an uppercase letter (A–Z)
    • Include a lowercase letter (a–z)
    • Include a number (0–9)
    • Include a special character, such as !, @, #, or $

Tip: Create a unique password that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess. Avoid using your name, username, Student ID, any part of your email address, or other personal information.

Example passwords:

  • MountainSky2026
  • CoffeeTable#17
  • PurpleRiver!85

Before submitting your new password, make sure you have a secure way to store it, such as a password manager like 1Password or LastPass.

Troubleshooting

Easily Guessable Password Error

If you enter an insecure password like “password1234” into the fields, you will receive a message stating you picked an easily guessable password.

Password Does Not Meet Complexity Requirements Error
If you enter a password that does not meet the Active Directory password requirements in each field, you will receive a message stating the password does not adhere to the college password policy.
