Major Change Request

What Is It?

A Major Change allows F-1 international students to request a change to their declared academic major at Salt Lake Community College.

Use this service to request a major change if you plan to change your program of study. This request allows International Student Services (ISS) to review your request, update your SEVIS record if approved, and issue a new Form I-20 reflecting your new major.

Typical processing time: 3–5 business days.

Who or What is Eligible?

You may be eligible to request a major change if you:

  • Are maintaining valid F-1 student status.
  • Are currently enrolled at Salt Lake Community College.
  • Have discussed your academic plans with your Academic Advisor.
  • Meet the academic requirements for your new major.

International Student Services will review your request and verify that all required documentation has been received before processing your major change.
