Salt Lake Community College limits support and access to the internet and network resources to Macintosh computers that can receive security updates from Apple, Adobe, Microsoft, etc. Following Apple’s lead most developers only prove security updates for the last three macOS versions. The the college will remote lock Mac computers not running an updated OS. Mac Computers that are not able to run a support macOS should be surplus.
