What is RingCentral?
RingCentral is the #1 cloud communication and contact center solution. It is a cloud-based phone system that will deliver a secure, hosted phone and fax functionality over the internet for your company. With Microsoft Teams integrations, integrated SMS, eFax, messaging and video meetings, RingCentral helps eliminate the need for expensive and complex office hardware, the smart system allows you to use your computer, with the Ring Central app installed and headset or a dedicated office phone to make and receive calls giving students, staff and faculty the impression you are in a “traditional” office whether you’re in the office or not.
Ordering Headsets and Phones
SLCC will offer a headset and two phone versions for purchase, the basic Polycom VVX250 4-line phone and the Advanced Polycom VVX 450 12-line phone. Below is the link where you have the option to choose a replacement handset or a USB wired headset. This selection will replace your current Cisco phone. Please keep in mind that if you prefer the physical phone, the first year will be covered by the Office of Information Technology. Depending on the phone that you choose, there will be a $22 to $36 annual fee thereafter that will be billed to your department. Please submit your option by September 2, 2022. If no option is selected, you will automatically receive a USB wired headset.
Installing Software
You can get away with just using your desk phone and not worry about the software features that come with RingCentral, but don’t miss out on the digital solutions that will make your job easier. RingCentral has a series of different apps that connect to the various functions of the tool. Take a look at the list of tools available to you below:
RC Phone App (For Desktop / Laptop Computers)
For use on your SLCC-issued desktop or laptop, the RingCentral app will be automatically pushed to your machine much as we do with the monthly Microsoft Patch Updates and Apple updates. When logging into the RingCentral app it will use SSO Authentication and should log you in automatically, if you need to log in manually it will be the SLCC login you use now to log in to other SLCC systems, username@slcc.edu, and your MySLCC password.
RingCentral App (For Mobile Devices)
RingCentral app’s intuitive and unified user interface allows you to seamlessly transition between phone calls, video meetings, and team chat conversations without losing track of what you’re working on. Less toggling between communications applications and solutions means your projects move forward, your teams stay connected, and your productivity soars.
RingCentral Outlook Plugin (Windows Only)
Improve your productivity by minimizing the number of applications you use to get everyday tasks done: calling, texting, faxing, and setting up meetings. With RingCentral and Outlook integrated, you can manage all your contacts on one searchable screen. See all your past communications such as calls, texts, faxes, and voicemails within Outlook.

CONFIGURING SETTINGS
You can manage a large portion of your RingCentral settings by logging into the RingCentral Web Portal. Visit service.ringcentral.com to access the RingCentral Web Portal to manage your settings.
The online portal can grant you access to a series of phone features such as editing your user details, modifying your phone settings, managing your greetings, setting call forwarding, and changing your Voice Mail message and notification.
