How To Approve or Deny Requests for Administrative Access
 
Description 
This KB gives instructions on how to approve users to have administrative access on endpoints through Admin By Request
  
Criteria 
The following bullet points are the necessary criteria for this KB. 
 
  • Be a member of Help Desk, Desktop, Infrastucture, ServerServices, or Information Security
  • You will not approve your own requests 
  
Estimated Time to Complete 
This task should take about 2-4 Minutes - If all goes according to plan (encountering no problems). Do not feel pressured to complete the task in this amount of time. 
  
Resolution 
To approve a user for administrative access, please follow the steps below. 
  1.  Inside of ServiceNow, select "All" from the top navigation bar.
  2.  Type "Admin" in the search field and look for the Admin By Request section. Select "Auditlogs" from this section.
  3.  Find the request that requires an approval. It will be in the "Pending Approval" state.
  4.  Select the Date for the request.
  5.  Review the Scan Result to ensure a clean result. Review the Reason to ensure it meets the following criteria:
    1. Clear and specific
    2. Aligns with software or system changes supported by SLCC
    3. There are not alternative methods for users that do not require Administrative rights(Mac Self-Service Portal)
  6.  Approve or Deny based on the above criteria.
  7.  The user will be notified of the approval or denial in 1-2 minutes.
