Items to Test When Updating ServiceNow

 

Description 

This KB gives instructions on items to verify are working when moving forward versions of ServiceNow

  

Criteria 

The following bullet points are the necessary criteria for this KB.

ServiceNow roles: SNC_External, SNC_Internal, ServiceNow Admin
 

  

  

Test Items

To verify functions are working, please verify the following items have parity between Dev and Prod.

  1. Public Support Portal has all features functioning as expected.
    1. Search Widget present and searchable
    2. News Widget is functioning to see upcoming outages
      1. This is tied to the Service Portal Widget: Simple List
      2. Simple List needs to be set public
    3. Verify request items are correct, especially if created in the last release cycle.
      1. Adobe CC was created in Vancouver release cycle
    4. Verify Login is done correctly from all links on the Home Page
      1. If Login redirects to a blank page, refer to CHG0030096 for possible solutions
  2. All notifications need to have parity for active and inactive
    1. Verify first with Incident notifications
    2. Request Notifications
    3. Requested Item Notifications
    4. Approver notifications
    5. Create new requests and approvals for all of these items to test they have parity to Production
  3. Verify UI Policies work on all forms
    1. Forced fields
    2. Auto updating fields
    3. Fonts
    4. Available fields for entry
