How to use RingCentral to configure presence on another users line.
Presence is the term to describe monitoring someone else’s line. These monitored lines appear on your handset on the buttons & LCD screen. Presence allows you to see if someone is on a call and answer a call for that person. Presence is configured in two phases. First, the person monitoring the other line needs to add that line. Second, the person whose line is being monitored must give permission to the other person to monitor their line.
In the RingCentral desktop application, click SETTINGS > PHONE > EXTENSION SETTING > EDIT.

This will open a webpage.

Expand the PHONES & NUMBERS section. Then click PRESENCE.

To add another line to monitor, click ASSIGN EXTENSION.

Search by name or by extension to choose the line you want to monitor. Click the radio button of the line to add, then click ASSIGN.

This will add the line you wish to monitor. If you only want to see the line – the button will blink when a call comes in on that line – leave the RING MY PHONE box unchecked. If you want your phone to ring when a call comes in on that line, check the box. Click SAVE when done.

- GRANT PERMISSION FOR YOUR LINE TO BE MONITORED
Go into PRESENCE as shown below.

Use the search bar to find the person/extension you want to give permission to. Note that you can select multiple people to grant permission to at the same time. You can allow/disallow others from seeing if you are on the phone using the radio buttons toward the top of the page. Click SAVE when complete.
