This KB gives instructions on how to access Exchange shared mailboxes on Windows and MacOS.
This article includes instructions for: New Outlook, Classic Outlook (Windows), and MacOS.
Select the version you are using to go directly to those steps.

How to access Exchange shared mailboxes on Windows and MacOS

 


New Outlook for Windows

Follow these steps to add a shared mailbox in the New Outlook experience.

Step 1 – Open New Outlook
Open the New Outlook for Windows and ensure you are signed in with your SLCC email account.

Step 2 – Open the Add Shared Mailbox Option
Right-click your email account name or select the three dots (•••), then choose Add shared folder or mailbox.

Step 3 – Enter the Shared Mailbox
Type the shared mailbox name or email and click Continue.

Step 4 – Access the Shared Mailbox
The shared mailbox will appear below your primary mailbox.

Outlook for Mac

*IMPORTANT NOTICE*

Verify in the Outlook menu bar next to the Apple icon that Legacy Outlook is enabled. The New Outlook for Mac cannot currently open SLCC shared mailboxes.

Steps:

1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts → Advanced → Delegates.

2. Click the + under “Open these additional mailboxes”.

3. Type the shared mailbox name and click OK.

Outlook for Windows (Classic)

You must have permissions to access the shared mailbox.

1. Click File in the upper-left corner of Outlook.

2. Click Account Settings → Account Settings.

3. Select your account and click Change.

4. Click More Settings.

5. Open the Advanced tab and click Add.

6. Enter the shared mailbox name and click OK.
