SLCC has several video-enhanced classrooms to create lecture recordings or live, online sessions for our students and faculty to better facilitate attending classes remotely when attending in person is not an option. Each of these classrooms have been equipped with both audio and video equipment that is used to assist in recording lectures or for live streaming classes for students that are attending remotely.

Below are the processes for utilizing the High-End Lecture rooms based on 3 possible scenarios:

  • Scenario 1:  Traditional Lecture
  • Scenario 2:   Lecture Capture
  • Scenario 3:   Live Broadcast / Video Conferencing

Scenario 1: Traditional Lecture (wireless)

1. Turn on room system using wall touch panel and select the VIA device as the source.

2. The first time you use VIA device (otherwise skip to step 3), follow steps on bottom of projector screen and open a browser and type in the "ROOM NAME" on the VIA page and choose to “Install Via” (for phones – install it from your app store).

3. Open the VIA app from your device and connect to the room device.

Type the “room name” and then type the “room code” displayed on the screen.

4. Next, select what you want to share, "share app" or "share screen" then "tap to present."

Scenario 2a: Lecture Capture – Lumens

1. Turn on room system using wall touch panel and select the VIA as source.

2. If presenting digital content, connect to the VIA as described in Scenario 1.

3. Select the layout for the recording option on the touch panel. (camera only, presentation only, side-by-side, or picture-in-picture PNP)

4. Insert your USB stick in the cable in the room labelled “recording”. (~2GB/hr required). **

5. Hit the record option on the touch panel.

6. Stop the recording when finished and take your memory card.

**If a room does not have the “recording” cable – select “Record” to save locally on the device. Contact the Help Desk to be given access to recorded files (provide location and time information).
