Microsoft 365 Web Access and Download Information for Students/Faculty/Staff

This KB gives information and instruction on your SLCC Microsoft 365 software and account.
 
 
Criteria 

Only individuals who are currently enrolled students, employed staff, or faculty members at SLCC can use this access.

 
What is included and how to access your Microsoft 365 SLCC account.

Salt Lake Community College offers faculty, staff and active students a license for Office 365.  These two license types provide access to key applications, storage and processes that are instrumental for the role each take at the college.

When a new student begins classes or when a new hire (faculty or staff) begins work, they will be assigned specific licenses during the enrollment/on-boarding process.

 This Knowledge Article covers what each license provides, how to access the online environment and where to go for additional support.


What is included in the Microsoft 365 license for Faculty/Staff?

Faculty Microsoft 365 License A3

  • Web versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Sway, Forms (continually updated)

*NOTE: If you are an Adjunct faculty member, you only have access to the web version.  If you need to download a desktop version, please contact Technical Support to request access (see the below for contact information.)

  • Desktop versions of Office 365 (desktop included Access (PC only) and Publisher) on up to 5 PCs or Macs per user 
  • Office apps on up to 5 tablets and 5 phones per user 
  • Rights management, data loss prevention, and encryption 
  • Email with 100 GB mailbox
  • 5 TB personal cloud storage in OneDrive

 

What is included in the Microsoft 365 license for Students?

Student Microsoft 365 license A3:

  • Web versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook (for bruinmail account), OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Sway and Forms.
  • Desktop versions of Office 365
  • Office apps on up to 5 tablets and 5 phones per user 
  • Rights management, data loss prevention, and encryption 
  • 5 TB personal cloud storage in OneDrive

 

Accessing the online environment

Open your browser and go to http://www.slcc.edu/Office365 -

  • Students, login using your BruinMail email address [UserName]@bruinmail.slcc.edu and normal SLCC password. 
  • Staff/Faculty login using [UserName]@slcc.edu.

 

To use Outlook webmail only, you may use the URL: https://outlook.office.com/owa/?realm=slcc.edu

  • Students, login using your BruinMail email address [UserName]@bruinmail.slcc.edu and normal SLCC password. 
  • Staff/Faculty login using [UserName]@slcc.edu and normal SLCC Password.

 


 

Installing to your computer:

Once logged in to the Microsoft 365 online environment, the dashboard will have a tab:

Click the Microsoft 365 selection from the list and the download should start. The installation usually runs on its own with very few prompts to the user.
