06/15/2026 OIT Urgent Outage Notification - Technology Building Power Outage(Resolved)

  

What happened?

On the afternoon/evening of Sunday June 14th, localized flooding impacted the Technology Building, resulting in a full loss of power to the facility a little before 11pm. As a result, the on-campus data center is offline, and all systems hosted in that environment were unable to maintain operations. Emergency power was procured to bring critical infrastructure back online. Most forward facing services were restored by Tuesday, June 16th, under this emergency power. 

All power and services were restored to operational status by Sunday, June 21st.

 

What's affected?

  • DegreeWorks
  • Data/reporting systems (including Cognos and ODS)
  • CAD licensing systems
  • Pearson VUE testing services
  • Test and non-production environments
  • Approximately half of our hypervisor capacity
  • Multiple physical server-based systems
  • Backups (no active backups; last successful backups were prior to the interruption, and backup storage is currently offline)
  • Milestone video system (operating in limited capacity with some local coverage only)
  • Redundant power capacity for restored systems

 

When did it start?

  • This outage started the evening of Sunday June 14th, 2026. 
  • All services were restored Sunday June 21st, 2026
