This KB provides information and instructions for accessing and using your SLCC Microsoft 365 software and account.
Criteria
Microsoft 365 access is available to currently enrolled students and actively employed staff and faculty at SLCC. The Microsoft 365 license assigned to your account depends on your role at the College.
What is included and how to access your Microsoft 365 SLCC account.
Salt Lake Community College provides Microsoft 365 access to eligible students, staff, and faculty. The license assigned to your account determines whether you have access to both desktop and web applications or web applications only.
When a new student begins classes or a new employee begins work, the appropriate Microsoft 365 license is assigned during the enrollment or onboarding process.

Microsoft 365 A5 License
The Microsoft 365 A5 license is provided to Staff, Full-Time Faculty, Students, and Adjunct Faculty.
- Desktop and web versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Sway, and Forms (continually updated).
- Microsoft 365 desktop applications on up to 5 PCs or Macs per user.
- Microsoft 365 apps on up to 5 tablets and 5 phones per user.
- Rights management, data loss prevention, and encryption.
- Email with a 100 GB mailbox.
Office 365 A1 for Some Adjunct Faculty
Some Adjunct Faculty are assigned an Office 365 A1 for Faculty license. This license provides access to Microsoft 365 applications through a web browser and does not include installation of the full Microsoft 365 desktop applications.
- Web versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Sway, and Forms (continually updated).
NOTE: If you do not see the option to install Microsoft 365 applications, your assigned license may provide web-based access only. Contact the SLCC OIT Help Desk if you believe you should have access to the desktop applications.
Access Microsoft 365 Online
Open your browser and go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/.
- Students: Sign in using your BruinMail email address, [UserName]@bruinmail.slcc.edu, and your normal SLCC password.
- Staff/Faculty: Sign in using [UserName]@slcc.edu and your normal SLCC password.
- Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when prompted.
Access Outlook on the Web
To access your SLCC email directly through Outlook on the web, go to https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/.
- Students: Sign in using your BruinMail email address, [UserName]@bruinmail.slcc.edu, and your normal SLCC password.
- Staff/Faculty: Sign in using [UserName]@slcc.edu and your normal SLCC password.
Installing Microsoft 365 Desktop Applications
NOTE: The option to install Microsoft 365 desktop applications is available only to users whose assigned SLCC license includes the desktop applications.
- Open a web browser and go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/.
- Select Sign in.
- Sign in using your SLCC email address and SLCC password.
- Complete the Authenticator verification when prompted.
- After signing in, select Apps from the left side of the page.
If you do not see Apps:
- Select the App Launcher (nine-dot icon) in the upper-left corner.
- Select More apps at the bottom of the App Launcher.
- In the upper-right corner, select Install apps.
- Select Microsoft 365 apps.
- Once the setup file finishes downloading, open it and follow the on-screen installation instructions.
Microsoft 365 Apps for Mobile Devices
Microsoft 365 apps are also available for supported iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
