Setting up a Yubikey for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)


A YubiKey is a FIDO2 token that provides the most secure form of passwordless authentication.

1. Sign in to https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo?tenant=slcc.edu

2. Click on Add sign-in method.

3. Drop-down, Choose “Security Key” and click Add.

4. Choose USB Device and click Next.

5. Insert the YubiKey and Set up a new PIN for your security key (minimum 6 numbers)

6. Touch your security key again to complete the request.

7. Click Allow

8. Enter a name of your security and click Next.

9. Click Done to complete the registration process.

Sign in with your security key (YubiKey)

10. Sign in to https://login.microsoftonline.com/?whr=slcc.edu

11. Select “Use Windows Hello or a security key”.

12. Choose USB security key.

13. Insert your security key and touch it.

14. Enter your security key PIN and click Next.

15. Touch the security key again to complete the sign-in.
