How To Map Your Missing Network Drive(s)

The following steps will assist you in mapping your network drive.  Please go to the Section based on your Computer Operating System.

NOTE:

Students/Staff/Faculty - Make sure you are connected on the campus network to our Eduroam network before you start this process.

Staff/Faculty:  Working off campus, make sure you are using the school VPN (Big-IP Edge Client) before you start this process.

Line 1:  Windows 10

Line 4:  Windows 11

Line 5:  MacOs

 

  1. How To Map the Network Drives H & I:\ Drive (In Windows 10)
    1. First, make sure you are connected on the campus network or from home using the VPN (Big-IP Edge Client) before you start this process.
    2. Go to the file explorer located on your taskbar.
    3. Or Go to the search field in the bottom left corner and type ‘File’ then left click on File Explorer App when you see it.
    4. Once it opens go to the left side and click on This PC.
    5. Check your Network Locations showing and see if you have the H and I Drive(s) there.
    6. If they are then you are good.
    7. If they are missing, then do the following steps.
    8. Make sure you are still on “This PC”
    9. In that window look at the top and you should see 3 tabs:  File, Computer and View
    10. Click on Computer
    11. A list of choices appears, the 5th item should be Map Network Drive, please click on the drive icon.

    1. A window will appear with Drive and Folder choices.

 

    1. Change the Drive from Z to either H or I depending on which drive is missing.
    2. In the Folder section type the following:
    3. H: Drive  \\fschome\home$\Capital Last Name Initial\username\
    4. Last Name Initial should be Capitalized.
    5. SLCC Username
    6. Example:  John Smith - \\fschome\home$\S\jsmith000\
    7. I: Drive path is \\ucssmb\dept$
    8. Once you type the one, just hit return or enter on your keyboard.
    9. Your drive is mapped and will show up at startup and open on your screen.

  1. How To Map the Network Drives H & I:\ Drive (In Windows 11)
    1. First, make sure you are connected on the campus network or from home using the VPN (Big-IP Edge Client) before you start this process.
    2. Open File Explorer – Go to Search Box and type File.
    3. Go to This PC
    4. On the 2nd line, to the right of view there are 3 horizontal dots.  Click on the 3 dots.
    5. Select Map network drive
    6. In the Drive selection, pull down to the drive letter you are mapping:  H or I
    7. In the Folder section type the following:
    8. H: Drive  \\fschome\home$\last name initial\username\
    9. Last Name Initial should be Capitalized.
    10. SLCC Username
    11. Example:  John Smith - \\fschome\home$\S\jsmith000\
    12. I: Drive path is \\ucssmb\dept$
    13. Once you type the one, just hit return or enter on your keyboard.
    14. Your drive is mapped and will show up at startup and open on your screen.

  2. How To Map the H & I Drive (In MacOS)
    First, make sure you are connected on the campus network or from home using the VPN (Big-IP Edge Client) before you start this process.
    1. Open Finder
    2. There are 2 ways to do this.
      1. Option 1:  Apple (Command) + K
      2. Option 2:  On the Menu Bar, make sure the word next to the APPLE on the left says Finder.
      3. On the Menu Bar select Go
      4. Then select Connect to Server.
    3. In the Server Address field, Type in:
      1. H: Drive:  smb://fschome/home$/LAST NAME INITIAL/username/
        1. Last Name Initial should be Capitalized.
        2. SLCC Username
        3. Example:  John Smith - smb://fschome/home$/S/jsmith000/
      2. I: Drive path is: smb://uscsmb/dept$
      3. Once you type the one, just hit return on your keyboard or click submit on the screen.
    4. Your drive is mapped and will show up at startup and open on your screen.
