MFA is an additional layer of security that helps protect your account from unauthorized access by requiring you to provide two or more pieces of evidence when signing in.
Absolutely! Having more than one option will help you in the event you get a new phone (but didn't change the number).
Microsoft multi-factor authentication allows users to verify authentication using three methods: the Microsoft Authenticator App, SMS text messaging, or an audio phone call.
Users without a smartphone should follow the instructions in option 2. Users will then be prompted to choose if they want to receive an authentication code via text message or a phone call.
You can update your authentication methods by going to: https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo?tenant=slcc.edu.

If you still need help, contact the SLCC Help Desk (801-957-5555), or you can ask for basic assistance in one of SLCC's computer labs (Lab staff can help with the process, but don't have all the tools the Help Desk has to help you, so may need to send you there if something needs to be fixed with your account).
