How do I select the correct position number when setting up an instructor's courses in SIAASGN?

Fall & Spring – Full‑Time Regular Load

Full‑time faculty teaching regular load courses use their assigned position number found in SIAASGN. To locate it:

  • Click the ( … ) next to the position number field
  • Select List of Employee’s Jobs
  • The full‑time position number will appear at the top of the list (format: 1F_ _ _ _)

Fall & Spring – Overload

Overload courses use a six‑character position number created by:

  • Starting with “Y”
  • Followed by the first five letters of the course index

Example: Index ASMSTP → Position Number YASMST

Fall & Spring – Adjunct

Adjunct (part‑time) faculty courses use a six‑character position number created by:

  • Starting with “X”
  • Followed by the first five letters of the course index

Example: Index ASMSTP → Position Number XASMST

Summer courses use a standardized position number format based on the type of faculty member, the summer term, and the academic year.

  • Last two digits of the academic year
